Our Embedded Barcode scan modules are optimized for integration into OEM equipment including lab instrumentation, medical devices, kiosks, robotic systems, and a range of customer facing applications.

A barcode scan module or barcode scan engine added to your device provides a range of functionality, including the ability to prevent fraudulent consumables, sample and identity verification, increased throughput, prevention of data entry errors, and improvement of the user experience.

Our OEM barcode scan modules are also available as enclosed models. Alongside our line of board level OEM scan modules, we offer splash protected hard plastic scan module enclosures, complete with anti-smudge/anti scratch optical grade cast acrylic windows.

In certain situations, it may be desirable to enclose your barcode scan module even if it is embedded within your machine. While embedding your barcode scan module into your machine may provide a base level of protection, sometimes it can be necessary or even a requirement to protect the barcode scan module from what goes on INSIDE the machine.

Some reasons for doing this can include;

• Liquid handling machines

Many machines utilize open liquids in their applications. Open liquids can be present in sample verification, liquid level analysis, or contaminant detection applications. To protect the barcoding unit from spills when moving liquids may be nearby an enclosed barcode scan module is recommended.

• Dust protection

Mounting a barcode scan module in areas that are highly prone to dust or material shavings may result in the need for periodic cleaning in order to maintain operation.  Enclosures provide protection and provide for easier cleaning.

• Reduced Design and Assembly Time

You and your design team can save time in the design process by utilizing our existing barcode scan module’s integrated protective anti-smudge/Anti-scratch optical grade acrylic and avoid the time needed to create your own window design. Our enclosed barcode scan module can be installed into any slot in your machine to instantly provide a covered and protected method of embedded barcode scanning.
